Do you accept insurance? How does insurance work?
There is a confusing array of insurance arrangements. The first thing you should do is check with your insurance carrier. Check your coverage carefully and find the answers to the following questions:
-Do I have mental health benefits?
-What is my deductible and has it been met?
-How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?
-How much is paid for an out-of-network provider?
-Is there a limitation on how much you will be paid per session?
-Is primary care physician approval required?
When I meet with you, bring in this information and we will figure out how much to expect in reimbursement.
What should I expect for my first visit?
During the first therapy session, you will be encouraged to share your struggles but will not be forced to discuss issues that you do not feel comfortable sharing at this time. We will work together to create a space where you feel comfortable sharing life's difficulties. By about the third therapy session, we will develop a plan together that will help you achieve your goals.
How will I benefit from therapy?
During therapy you will receive an individualized approach to meet your needs. You will be provided with practical tools and techniques, and we will work to try them out in your life in order to determine whether we have found solutions. You will be educated about harmful negative repeating patterns that are occurring in your life. You will learn ways to have healthy relationships with your self and others. I think of therapy as a process of recovery from struggles to opportunities of personal growth.
